25,000 views on Youtube

GetUrecruited hits 25,000 views on YouTube, Jan. 2012
With over 25,000 views on Youtube, and over 8,500 views on Vimeo, GetUrecruited's vision of being a platform for motivated parents and students to promote themselves on is coming to fruition.

We haven't even been using YouTube to promote our players, mostly we've been using Vimeo...but it just goes to show you the power of social media these days, that a single video could be spread amongst friends and co-workers, media and coaches like wildfire.

Think of how many players have seen other players and said "hey, I could do this"...and think of how many parents have said "hey, we should do this", and how many coaches have said "we should get this kid".

The numbers will only grow, and we'll only help even more student-athletes get recruited with financial aid, grants and scholarships.

Thank you to all of  you for your support.

The OBVIOUS truth about Facebook and your future

The OBVIOUS truth about Facebook and your future

It's not easy to write this...because my cool factor, whatever is left, will dwindle away after you read every word I have to say:

EVERY SINGLE POST you've ever written, shared, or other...is saved.  Remember that.

Character

“Trouble at Stanford highlights the importance of character”

As current high school student athletes and parents begin the process of looking at colleges and striving to obtain scholarships, it is important to remember the importance of remaining focused both on and off the field.

Being prepared for success in college recruiting

"No recruit was ever too prepared or started too early in the recruiting process."

The feeling of being prepared for coaches to call is like the feeling you get when you step on the floor, mat or field and knowing you are ready.  There's nothing like that feeling right?  You feel like you can give it your best shot---like you can't be beat.  It's really the same thing in life, when you're not prepared, and you get called to play...you'll stutter and fumble.

The Perfect Time to start in the recruiting process and the Expectation Theory

The Perfect Time and the Expectation Theory
Rhetorical commentary on personal beliefs
Mike Bucci -GetU National Director

I recently had the opportunity to respond to a rebuke made about a video post of a great GetU kid we'd chosen to promote on our GetUrecruited facebook fanpage.

Victor DiFusco - by Ray Gallagher

Victor DiFusco
Mahopac High School,
Class of 2011

Mahopac High junior Victor DiFusco may look like a mild-mannered, civic-minded citizen and truth be told; he is just that. But put him on the gridiron and a different man emerges. On the gridiron, this cool, calm and otherwise collected sort becomes a brutally, competitive individual with one goal in mind; to be the best football player on the field and play at the next level.

Rule of Recruiting #1: If you fail to plan, you're planning to fail.

By Chris Keevins
National Recruiting Director
Defensive Coach for 2010 State Champion Bronxville High School Football Team

I'm asked all the time by parents, coaches and athletes alike, "do you think Johnny is a Division 1 prospect".

What do I want to do when I grow up...?

By Michael Bucci
National Director
GetUrecruited.com

This is a rudimentary post towards applying to college.  In other words, there are no answers in this post...only good questions, which Socrates would argue is better than posting facts...that's assuming Socrates would blog.

I promised I'd help you develop a roadmap to start your recruiting process, so, hold on tight...and mom, grab the tissues, this is going to be rough.

Whether you think you can, or think you can't...you're probably right.  I don't remember who said that first, but, they were onto something.

It's Sept. 2000, I'm the captain of the Pace Lacrosse Team...receiving grants, transfer incentives, academic scholarships...and a debit card for my cafeteria that allegedly WORKS at McDonalds too...life is good.
